Support for the people of Medway

Citizens Advice Medway is taking on Ambassadors to champion our service and the hard work we do to the local community.

Our first Ambassador is local councillor Joanne Howcroft-Scott. We’re very grateful that she has agreed to act for our charity. Joanne has strong ties to the local community and has a strong drive to ensure that people know what help is out there and how to access it.

Joanne has been a proud supporter of Citizens Advice Medway for a long time. The team has always been grateful for her support and now Joanne has taken on this role formally, the team is extremely happy to be working more closely with her in the future.

Citizens Advice Medway’s CEO Dan McDonald said: “Our expanding team of Ambassadors will play a key role in ensuring the local community – both residents and professionals – are aware of what we have to offer. With the cost of living crisis impacting everyone, it’s more important than ever that people know they can approach us for help with whatever challenges they may be facing.

Joanne has always spoken highly of the work we do and was always there for our staff during the COVID lockdowns as a great source of encouragement. I’m proud to have her on the team.

Our Ambassadors will also encourage new potential volunteers to approach us and make potential new partner agencies aware of how we work and the benefits of forming partnerships in this difficult financial climate. I think Joanne will excel at this and the other aspects of being an Ambassador.”

Local councillor Joanne Howcroft-Scott said: “I am overwhelmed by the trust Citizens Advice Medway has in me to be their first ever Ambassador. I am delighted and overjoyed. I hope to bring enthusiasm to the role as I work in partnership with Citizens Advice Medway. The team is such an asset to the good people of Medway. Every year they help and support thousands, but also importantly empower people to help themselves.”
