Medway Power Watch: Helping you to save energy and save money.
Citizens Advice Medway is pleased to announce a new project called Medway Power Watch. The project is being launched as part of Big Energy Saving Week 2015 and aims to help people in Medway to save money on their energy bills and make sure they are getting the best gas and electricity deals for them. Big Energy Saving Week 2015 runs from Monday 26th October to Friday 30th October.
Dan McDonald, CEO of Citizens Advice Medway, said: “this project will be of immense value to everyone in Medway. People need help to make sure their energy costs aren’t getting the best of them. In the last few years households have seen their energy costs rise seven times faster than wages, so reducing energy bills and helping people switch is a priority”.
The need for clear information about changing energy supplier of tariff is especially important. It is estimated that switching to better gas and electricity deals would save most people around £200 a year. Despite this, less than 15% of UK households switched energy supplier in 2014, and over half have never switched in the last 15 years. Medway Power Watch is one of many projects hoping to change this situation so that consumers can shop around for energy instead of paying more money for a deal that isn’t right for them.
Medway Power Watch has launched with a number of downloadable resources, including ideas for energy saving around the home and a booklet that explains the process for using different energy comparison websites. More content will be added in the near future and you can have your say on what would be most useful to you when it comes to saving energy.
You can find these resources by going to Big Energy Saving Week, or by calling Citizens Advice Medway on 01634 383760.
